There is supposedly a boulder with a dished-out top on Stonedam that was once used to melt pine pitch for the construction of canoes. Anyone know where it is? I've looked without success.
There is also supposedly another large dished-out stone near Weirs Beach that was used to grind corn. And, while I'm at it, a place near Weirs Beach where clay for pottery was mined - one of the few places in New England where good clay was available. Anyone know anything about any of these places? I'd like to visit them. |

The clay mine in Weirs Beach was the former Brickyard. Click on the link for further information. |
