Sure looks rough out there for first thing in the morning Dan. Always worth watching that sun come over the horizon though. How was the bite?

It's really not that windy out here. Relatively calm right now. Dan

Early mornings and pre-sunrise 15-20 feet. Post sunrise I would be fishing 20-25 feet. However this time of year where no thermocline has set up and water temps are almost the same top to bottom, you can catch salmon down deep as well.
A good friend of mine who guides on the lake, his charter caught a beautiful Male 24" derby winning weight salmon right on the bottom in 55' of water while trolling for lakers! I would post a pic of the fish but not without his permission... Fishing is and will be slow for a couple more weeks. It always is after the derby.... Dan

Have you caught any rainbows yet?
I haven't gotten any decent salmon yet this year, although I have not spent much time out fishing either... all have been shorts but all have been in great shape, good and healthy so that's great to see. |

Yes a lot two year old salmon are predominantly being caught from what I am seeing. Fall netting results kind of alluded to this. I have also caught a couple 6 and a few 5 year olds. Its the three year olds I am not seeing. Dan

Hi RG!
They are actually not tags but certain physical fins are clipped off when young. Every fourth year there is no fin clip at all. Hope all is well! Dan
