Need help with a garage sale

We've just sold our home in Moultonborough. We've sold our furniture with our home but have tons of household items, a lot of children's toys, and a few pieces of furniture that we won't be taking with us.

Is there someone we can contact who could organized, advertise, and run a garage sale for us?

We're also open to anyone coming and giving us one price to take it all.

We need to have all of this done within the next month.

We are in the process of emptying our house also and decided to donate all the small items we would not be taking with us to Goodwill. They are very happy to receive donations of furniture, household goods, kitchen items, books, clothing, etc.
We have found yard sales are way too much work and not worth the effort. Besides, there are lots of unfortunate people who would be on the receiving end of your generosity.

Goodwill is a for profit company. Local not for profit will help your local community. Try to donate to places like St Vincent. All workers do not get paid and donate there time and labor.

Goodwill is a "not for profit" organization under 501(c)(3)...

Yes, but Goodwill pays their CEO almost $900k a year, boys and girls club CEO makes over $1m a year. I think the point above was that many local charities send 95% or more of donations to the less fortunate, where some national charities have so much beaurocracy they are closer to 50%.

Either way, i agree with donating. In fact, my hometowns highschool football team collects unwanted items every year from the neihboorhood and then runs a huge garage sale on the town commons. They use the proceeds to cover some of the football related costs the team has. Sounds like osme of the Lakes Regions schools should do the same.

Hearts & Hands Thrift Store (google that!) in Meredith, 8 Maple St. just beyond the Case 'n Keg, easy access via Route 3 just south of the town docks, is open three days/week; Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 10-5.

It is owned by three local churches, and uses the money to provide the poor and the hungry with el cheapo 59-cent cans of tuna fish, out dated mayonnaise, and crappy Busch Beer, or something! You know, thinking about that combination.......it doesn't seem too bad?

Thanks for the suggestion. When we moved from southern New Hampshire, we didn't move any furniture that time either. We donated the entire contents of our home. We believe that it's all about paying it forward and helping others.

It's not about the money this time either, we just need to have the stuff removed from our home.

So, I'd still love to hear more suggestions....

www.stvdplaconia.org/donations.html has a large, white, Chevy box truck that looks like it is brand new, and they use it to do furniture donation pickups like sofas, recliners, walnut dining table sets, and mahogany breakfronts. Supposedly, this very nice box truck was donated by Cantin Chevrolet?

Also donating to Salvation Army is a great idea. They are a great non-profit organization. Before my elderly mother died she requested that we donate her items to the Salvation Army. Goodwill is definitely for profit. How do you think they pay for ALL their commercials on television?

Not having been in this thrift store for about six months, I was totally surprised to see they have basically doubled or even tripled in size with their expanding out, into the rear area of their building.

The hours of business have been expanded too. They are now open: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 9-5, Saturday: 9-3, Sunday: 10-3.

Location: 583 Tenney Mountain Highway, about 1/8 mile before you get to the Plymouth Wal-Mart, off Route 93, Exit 26.

What's inside? A lot of stuff including furniture, white appliances like stove and washing machine, paint, hardware, and a big long list of all sorts of house hold furniture items; sofas, tables, chairs, recliners, bureaus, clocks, paintings, art works, plumbing fittings, sinks, hot water heaters, well tanks & pumps, screws and fasteners, Cabot oil deck stain, latex siding stain, misc paint, Stanley hardware, washer-dryer-dish washer, wiring outlets ...

And yes, they do have a big white box truck with a tailgate lift for doing pick-ups at your olde time, mega-million dollar, waterfront tear down .... just in case you was wondering!

A new thrift furniture store, Flip N' Furniture, opened recently in Plymouth, on Tenney Mountain Hgwy, close to Wal-Mart, in a store front previously occupied by a Bond Auto Parts.....maybe an eighth mile down beyond the Re-Store thrift which also has furniture...both on Tenney Mtn Hgwy...and very close to the Wal-Mart turn-off.

Believe it is same organization as the Ladders thrift store on south Main St, Plymouth....but I could be incorrect.....located in a double wide, store front, loaded with lots of furniture and home items.....where does all this stuff come from?

So, Plymouth now has four different thrift stores; the Re-Store, and Flip N' Furniture; both on Tenney Mtn Hgwy, close to Wal-Mart, and Ladders and the first, original thrift store (name unknown), close to Rite Aid, on south Main St ........Plymouth NH has now most definitely become a thrift store MECCA!

....no info shows from a google search for 'Flip N' Furniture, Plymouth NH' so that says it must-a-be a recent, new opening, or something! .... seems like a good name for a furniture thrift store ........ Flip N' Furniture ......easy to remember!
