Imagine macdonald's running out of hamburg woodshed runs out of prime rib
The service at Woodshed, the ambiance and wine list are top notch.
Got there Sat eve ordered primer rib at 8 pm "sorry we have no more" and we got an apology Tough to eat an apology. How does a restaurant that specializes in Prime Rib ,takes reservations not plan for enough of their specialty? So if you plan to go to the Woodshed better ask if they will have prime rib for you. Menu is very limited so check web site for their menu. Woodshed said as good as ever as is the flower pot bread. We do not expect to return any time soon and they lost potential customer with dining friends. |

A bit harsh...
In the restaurant business, things happen....they miscalculated, give ‘em a break!

OK, so why didn't you leave instead of ordering something you really didn't want to have?

With that attitude, perhaps Mickey D’s would be a better first option for you moving forward.

So not only do you have to make a reservation....in your mind you have to reserve a piece of meat too?

Maybe this image of a thick piece of Prime rib will help with the disappointment you had at the New Wood Shed.

Do you regularly eat at restaurants?
The Woodshed has a fairly broad menu and to run out of an item is quite normal. In addition, Prime rib isn't cooked to order and I am sure they rather run out than have a lot left over... |

A quick search yielded 3 or 4 posts in the last year about the woodshed not having prime rib during prime (ha!) hours.
It's interesting to see the difference in responses on this thread and the Pop's one a few weeks back about running out of clams. Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk |

Quote:
I’m sorry I completely disagree. It should not be normal and acceptable for a high end restaurant to regularly run out of items especially a popular item such as prime rib on a Saturday night especially when they are a reservation restaurant and can reasonably estimate amounts of food consumed based on the past. FYI I like the new Woodshed and have not been there when they ran out of an item I ordered. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

FWIW...
In my 34 years of involvement with McDonald's we never ran out of hamburger meat. We did run out of everything else though... |

Nonsense...
Running out of a regular menu item is not normal in general. Whoever wears the "executive chef" hat is failing their role whether its an actual executive chef or its mom or pop at a diner. However, special offerings & prime rib are exceptions. I expect to go early for prime rib or expect I may miss out. 8 oclock out of prime rib is kinda ok in my book. 6 oclock not so much.

I'd rather frequent a restaurant that orders as close as they can to daily usage rather than one who over orders so they never run out and don't serve fresh menu items.
Sometimes that means you run out of things - it happens. If the market dictated otherwise I'm sure you would see changes in how things are run but there are enough folks who value the restaurants that periodically run out of things so they don't lack for business. Not a slam on anyone, just shows people value different things and that's great. |
