I own a small cabin up on Western lane, I had some people up from Boston and Arlington ,Somerville, We had a great time that Saturday, swimming at Levett Beach and then barbecue at the cabin, late night Beers at the Fire pit, The Girls decided to go to bead at about midnight, and Me Dave and Chuck sat at the Fire pit talkin Hockey. Then we heard a kid crying in the woods. Dave said , OMG, must be a lost child, and The 3 brave Hockey players went to help the poor lost child, The next day, Kelly ,Dave’s wife ,said she was looking out the glass doors and if you’ve ever seen the 3 Stooges in Panic mode, trying to get in one door, you can picture this. At coffee that morning the story is we saved the women from a 10ft Fisher Cat while trying to protect kids. Hockey Hero’s!

A fisher (which is not a cat) does have a unique cry:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrvdzCGjbzw they grow up to about 2.5 feet long including the long tail. Basically a big weasel. |

Thank you for that description, I have them around my home in So. New Hampshire and that's what they sound like when they screech. The only thing I would add is they sound like a "wounded poor lost child in extreme pain". Many many years ago my ex-wife (some what of a city girl) called the police once convinced that someone was being murdered in the woods when she first heard one.
