The Paddle Steamer Mount.
I may do Monday Morning Mounts if there is interest because I have so many Mt. Washington Postcards. I chose this for This mornings post because of the view. Who can identify where this postcards image is viewed from. (I don't know) but I will think about it. You tell me! |

To me it looks like Barndoor Island behind The Mount and Rattlesnake Island in the background. Gunstock all the way in the back??

Hi
No. Im sorry but I am not currently interested in selling any cards, but would like to share them with everyone. This is a collection started by my father roughly 35 years ago we haven't really bought or sold any in years. its not a huge collection but there is plenty of real nice images that I could stare at for hours. That said: If anyone sees a card that has personal meaning so much so that they can convince me to: I may provide a high quality digital image file of your choosing. I may part with it. Your idea of a T-Shirt is a great idea however I don't own rights to the artwork and id hope that is respected by all. this particular image is good quality no watermark (your welcome!) |

Behind Barndoor Island, that's the clay point peninsular area that was home to Camp Alton from 1937-1992, 55-years of snipe hunting for the junior campers and a huge capture the flag, color war competition event for the senior campers, every first week in August.
Prior to 1937 it was a home for horses farm, or something?

Some things about this photo looked strange to me.
![]() The mount is much brighter than its surroundings. The black smoke has only just started, indicating the "pedal is to the metal". The smoke is streaming straight back, but there are no whitecaps. There's little splash at the wheel, and scarcely any wake. Just where would it be steaming/starting from? ![]() The surroundings are sharp, unlike American postcards of the 1950s and 1960s. No touchups are noted. Color film was introduced to the public in 1942. Quote:
'Sure would like to see the other side of the card--and the postmark! (Please). ![]() Created on my tiny Smartphone. This was "work". ![]()

Are postcards your thing or was this from google university? In hand it certainly does not feel as if it is a photograph. Its some form of artwork that may have started with capturing an image with a lens. Kinda nice. This "post card" is actually in a packet of images of the lake that you would mail just the same as a postcard. Quite nice. Last Sunday I posted the back side one. Maybe next week I will do something like a page with the description of the lake the area and a list of islands. I do like the where is it cards?...... |

Looks to be a http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han...of_photographs black and white photo that was hand couloured and then many copies get printed like that and hopefully sold.

I've never seen it happen- but maybe coming back from Alton Bay heading north- Sleepers Island the small one, and Rattlesnake behind it? The elevation of the island makes me think of Rattlesnake. Of course it's a painting, so I'm guessing it's not at scale?
