What a difference in lake temperatures! The NH DES thermometer at Weirs Beach was reading 61 degrees on Friday May 29'th and up in Moultonboro Bay, I measured 75 degrees on the surface and 73, six feet down, using a calibrated thermometer and verified with a swim. That's a big delta!

68 degrees yesterday 20 inches down in the very churned up Spindle Point area taken on my extremely unofficial plastic, old, likely FLL issue Walmart thermometer. Was 52 degrees just ten days ago when my crazy wife took her inaugural annual dip. Also remember, there was snow in the air just three weeks ago.

The Weirs water is constantly changing, drawing water from the deeper regions in close proximity to the channel.
Temperature gauges at a home dock are relatively shallow water without much current, and often with a sandy bottom, which can help warm the water more quickly. Just like real estate and businesses, it's all about location, location, location. Dave

75--wow! I swam a few days ago, and it was beautiful. But even in my 40 yards or so, there were dramatic swings in temperature every few feet as if there were currents of warmer and colder water. So I would not assert any one number is correct or incorrect
