Default Mount?

Does anyone have any idea when the Mount makes its last run and heads back to its winter home in Center Harbor?

Default Last Runs

Based upon their ads, the last night run is this Saturday with the Halloween Masquerade Ball. They have two buffet runs on Sunday from the Weirs. Then they call it a season.

Fast year!

The Mount web site says this Sunday 10/30 will be the last day. http://www.cruisenh.com/2005/highres/daytime/

I was at the lake yesterday and saw the Mount heading towards the Weirs in Gilford near Ellacoya State Park. I wondered how many passengers she had with such a windy & rough day. I did not see any other boats out there either.

Thanks for the Info!!
I saw the Mount on the Bear Island Cam one morning and I didn't see anyone on board, however, it must have been cold and maybe they where all inside.
I did see a small boat near 3 mile, possible fishing, but no other boats around.
I didn't see anyone swimming!!

Have a good day!

I was at Weirs Beach yesterday when the Mount pulled in around 12:30. Hundreds of school kids poured off and the area sounded like a school yard after being quiet and deserted just a few minutes earlier. It must have been field trip day.

Cool saturday is the halloween masquerade

From 7 -10:30 on this saturday is the Mount Washington Halloween masquerade ball. People get really costumed out and party-hearty, plus there's always a biiiig turnout. For about $42.00, you get more food than you can eat at the buffet with something like chicken marsala and prime rib, two different bands like Destiny and Annie & the Orphans and Big Mike Livingstone, a singer-musician up on the top deck, plus a cash bar, plus a chance to win the costume contest. So, go work on your costume, and put on your dancing shoes. Be there, or be a square!

Default Mount

I didn't see the Mount on any Cams today, so, I think she has been taken back to her winter quarters in Center Harbor.
Any updates from anyone?

Yesterday tuesday at about 2pm or so, it cruised past my humble abode on the way to Centre harbor and it had that look of the final move of the season, on its way to winterization and Christmas decoration time.

The Halloween masqerade ball on saturday nite got a big turn-out and as usual the costumes were very imaginative. There's some real talent out there. There's this one crew man who sits down in the engine room about six feet away from the very large and noisy diesel engine and just sits there for the whole trip and reads a book. No wonder why it costs $42.00 for a ticket if they can afford to pay a crewman to sit around all trip and do nuthin!

Oh! I'm sure he's not doing nothing!! Even with the noisy engine, he can tell if something is not right!

Also if there is a problem with the controls from the wheelhouse he can manually operate them as ordered by the telegraph from the wheelhouse.

If the engines stop for some reason, they need someone to start them ASAP to regain control of the ship and the safety for all aboard.

So! he may be reading a book but he is a very important part of the operation.

I'm sure if he was doing anything wrong the officer in charge would be doing some chewing!!!

Default Winter Home

Does anyone know what they do next?
Will she be taken out of the water and painted or is that done in the spring?
It would be interesting to find out what type of work is done during the winter months. I guess I'm just nozzy!!

I'm sure others can give you specifics but I'm pretty sure the Mount is not hauled out every year. I imagine hauling it is quite an undertaking. Love to watch it happen.

Default The Mount - Winter Lay-Up

The Mount was last hauled out of the water for the '03-'04 offseason so the next time is probably in '08. I stopped by in Feb. '04 and it was quite a sight. Hope to see the actual hauling next time.

Default Thanks!

Everyone for the info. It is quit interesting to see how much information there is out there on the Mount.
Now another question has popped up. A friend of mine asked if they rebuild the engines every year and I said I would ask and see what we can find out.
Also, what happens to the crew in the winter months?

Thanks in advance!

Default Question

A friend on mine asked if the engines are overhauled every year or do they go by how many hours the engine have been used.
Anyone know?

Default Center Harbor

When the Mount is docked at Center Harbor do they have chartered crusies before the ice sets in?
