snow fall depth: Dec 5-6 snow storm

Just went for a two mile, wake-up walk around the now very winter scenic Waterville Valley and it got only one inch or less ..... is now 24-degree with light winds.

None the less, the town plows and diesel sidewalk snowblower/rock salter/sander are out and about, doing their thing!

The ski area website which is 1 1/2-miles away claims it got 6-8" in the last 24-hours ... www.waterville.com/snow-report-maps..... ha-ha-ha-ho-ho-ho-nyuuck-nyuuck-nyuuck ...

... just go take a look at the North Conway Main St cam ... http://www.whitemountains.tv/live-ca...ay-village-nh/ .... and you can see what snow North Conway did not get .... and Waterville Valley is actually pretty close distance to Conway/North Conway except for the NH-roads system ...... you know ...... you cain't get they-er ...... from here-er!

So, what did you get for snow depth in your neck of the woods, down over there?

There are some striking differences between snow depths at neighboring locations, including some very localized "holes" in snow cover in the middle of some appreciable amounts. I used this to see what was going on late yesterday and this morning to see the net snowfall: https://www.ventusky.com/?p=43.575;-71.403;10&l=snow

Here on Long Island, the northern tip got nothing, while down at the southeastern area by Harilla Landing the amount shown is 4". The Ossipees got 8-10", while the western half of M'boro Neck and nearly all of Center Harbor got essentially nothing. I believe the amounts shown on the graph are computer generated from integrating radar snowfall rates.

When you have these types of winter storms a few hundred feet in elevation gain can make a big difference. We got about two inches but up at Gunstock I'd say the got about five. When looking over the Sandwich mountain range you could see the snow line.

At my location in Gilford (CountryClub Rd / Cotton Hill Rd / Bean Rd), we received about 8" of HEVY wet snow. At the bottom of Cotton Hill where it intersects with Bean Rd, your actually in Laconia ! Right in the crosshairs !

We also lost Power from 8pm Sat night, until about 1pm Sunday afternoon (17hrs).

No signs of 'downed' power lines, so not sure why the outage fo so long.
I know there was a lot of icing on the trees.s
Eversource was not able to provide a explanation.

Also at 900’ elevation West of Meredith and got one angry inch of frozen slush which I spent 4 hours scraping up...

16 - 18" where I am in Gilmanton - about 2,000' elevation. Lost power for 24 hours along with internet and cell service. Internet service is back up but Cell service is still out and spotty in the area. Good amount of tree damage. Grateful for having a portable generator and a lot of fireplaces

Co-op did a good job on restoration.

What a difference elevation and the lake makes - went to Laconia this morning and saw areas with bare grass.

Wow, that's unreal! Quite the difference from where I am in Gilford as we only received maybe 1 1/2"...

On the west side of Alton Bay, about 150-200 ft above the lake, and just outside Sandy Point (phew), we got about 2 inches of a mix of very wet snow, sleet, rain, and yuck.

Used the snowblower to move it, and just barely got the job done. On the plus side, it wasn't over a foot.

We did lose power from 1130pm Sat night to around 630pm Sunday night. Thank goodness for the generator and wood stove.

Agree. When I went to Laconia this morning I was shocked. Drive south on 107 through the corners and up Frisky Hill, a winter wonderland. Here's a picture of my "backyard". The bushes in the front are 10 - 12 foot forsythias and lilacs. We'll see how they fare in the spring
