Default Syrup makers

Anyone on the forum make syrup? Curious what the season is like a few hours north of me. I don't remember a February with the sap running like it is this year. Mid to late March used to be the heart of my season. This year I am a month ahead of schedule. I'm a hobby syrup maker - 30-50 buckets depending how ambitious I am feeling.

Last week during the warm day, I know someone in Strong Maine 13 taps, 10 gallons of sap.
2+ feet of snow in the woods there.

I'm a small backyard producer and yes this year I'm a few weeks early. Once February rolls around I watch the weather and early Feb the weather looked perfect for sap flow. I tapped and it's been flowing well. 3 boils later and we have 9 gallons syrup from 35 taps. We typically make between 12 and 15 gallons so we should be in the ballpark this year. Boil on!

Wow! At roughly forty gallons of sap to a gallon of syrup that’s a lot of sap!

It sure is. I am amazed at his operation. He has a Facebook page if you want to check out all the statistics. He does show the amount of sap.
