Lakeside Deli & Grille--sad news
As some of you may know, Meredith's Lakeside Deli & Grille abruptly had to temporarily close after pipes burst in the February extreme cold.
The news gets worse: Chef/owner Jeff Brown passed away earlier this month, and while grieving their loss, the family also learned the restaurant's lease couldn't be renewed. After all the delicious meals Jeff and his wife Anne have served our families, I encourage my fellow Lakeside Deli fans to give back to the Brown family during their difficult time: Please consider making a memorial donation--perhaps in the amount you would have spent on the meal you were looking forward to having when the Deli reopened or you returned in the summer. You can find their GoFundMe page at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/4742c-jeff-brown Or, according to Jeff's obituary: "In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed for Jeff’s children’s education, c/o Liam/Ryan Brown Education Account, 261 College Road, Center Harbor, NH 03226." |

What a shame, such a young man. We were in the habit of visiting Meredith from Wolfeboro a couple of times a summer on our own or with out-of-towners to show off the different views across the lake and always enjoyed outdoor lunches at the Lakeside Deli. I can't in honesty say that I remember Jeff because I was never inside very long, but I do remember that everyone working there was super friendly and helpful.

The Chef Jeff's Meatball Sandwich! Ryan's Reuben. Becky's Garden Grill. Everything is wonderful on their menu.
A very hardworking family that found it difficult to find hardworking workers. At times, their catering functions meant closing the retail deli without notice when employees didn't show up. Coming down Pleasant St., you can access their parking without having to negotiate the traffic on Rt. 25. This would be a big loss if they can't continue operating. It's a great location and it would be a shame to see it turn into something benign like an insurance agency or palm reader.

It is a big loss for the community, but not as big as the loss Annie and her sons have suffered. Please, if you enjoyed meeting friends and family over lunch at the Deli's picnic tables, consider making a memorial gift in honor of Chef Jeff when his hard working family needs it most!
