Default Car Key Fob not working ?

My Hyundai Santa Fe (2021) key fob, has stopped working ?
Car has been in garage in NH since Nov, while we wintered down South, that's the last time we used the car.

Does the Fob have a battery, which I can replace myself, or do I have to go to Dealer ?

Fobs have a battery. If you google the model you have there are usually directions on how to get to it. Should be easy to do your self. I’ve done it on other car fobs a few times.

Oh yeah. If battery completely dies in fob then sometimes fob needs to be repaired with car by dealer. Step one is to replace battery.

Easy to do on a Subaru and GMC fob. I bet yours is equally straightforward.

What did we do before Google?!

Default My dealer does it for free...

...perhaps it varies by make of car, but my dealer replaces the battery in the fob for free.

Also, if you need to buy a whole new fob, investigate the "knock-off" fobs online, as opposed to buying from the dealer. My daughter lost her fob a couple years ago, and the Ford dealer wanted $700 for a new one. I bought one on-line for significantly less. However, you have to get them programmed to synch with the car. Countryside Lock and Key in Concord will come to the house and do the programming. (Note: since it is a knock-off, she only uses this fob as the back-up)

If the battery is not completely dead sometimes you can get it to respond by holding the fob right up against the start button.
The batteries are easy to change, they are just like watch batteries.
I usually go to Interstate battery, if you have one locally or your local hardware store may carry them also.

It should be a standard CR2032 battery that you can buy online, at Walmart or a hardware store. Easy fix.
