I noticed a SOLD sign popped up on the parcel of land that's been for sale across the street from McDonald's at Alton circle. Any news on what is planned for that spot? Market Basket would be nice...

I'm not sure the lot is physically big enough to support a Market Basket with a huge parking lot for all their loyal customers.
Maybe a Burger King or Wendy's to offer some competition to Mickey D's, lol. In my opinion the lot location would be ideal for a decent, modern motel chain or a large gas station (assuming it is zoned retail). Who knows when or if the Riverview Motel will ever open again. The owner seems to have been working on it for 5 or 6 years. Not sure what the hold up is other than likely trying to do all the work himself (and years of lost income). It will be interesting to see what others think may succeed in that particular location...... |

It’s definitely not big enough for Market Basket. I looked at it for contractor bays, a car wash or self storage, the owner was adamant that no self storage was going there. The water situation there made a car wash out of the question.

6 Suncook Valley Rd, 1.9 Acres, prop taxes $5,153/2024, commercial sale, MLS# NNEREN 5031450
Set on 4.5 Acres with 1.9 acre usable land, includes 1300+' feet of scenic river frontage - perfect for kayaking or canoeing with up to 18 parking spaces. Fully renovated in 2018. Asking price - $625,000. Maybe it will become "Canoe KIng - Suncook River, Alton NH" and rent out 17' Grumman aluminum canoes with wood paddles for $8/half day! Oopsie-woopsie ........ am about 50-years too late for that? |

I'm surprised Vacanza hasn't bought it by now. They are buying up every cottage colony including Sandy Point and also bought several homes along the bay that they offer on vrbo. I think they are trying to have a monopoly on vacation rentals in Alton. They also now own the storage facility and boat storage units just past Sandy Point.

With 2.6-acres of unusable land and 1300+' of Suncook River frontage http://www.suncookrivercamp.com/boat...ook-river-camp .... a new Hafner's gas station could become a place to park you car and carry a kayak down to the Suncook River which flows down below it.
The Suncook River must be a water outflow coming from Alton Bay, Lake Winnipesaukee? Go gas up at Hafner's Alton Rotary gas station and paddle .... www.riverfacts.com/rivers/11926.html ....the Suncook River down below it, out back! Just imagine a beautiful Hafner's gas station with a kayak put-in location, out back the beautiful Suncook River ...... www.mysuncookriver.org/page10.htm ..... a win-win for Hafner's and beautiful Alton, NH. |

It well could be the Merrymeeting River, and then it turns into the Suncook River at some point or something? The MLS-5031450 listing named it the Suncook River but that could be incorrect?
Anyone familiar with it know if the river is big enough with enough water to paddle a kayak or canoe from down behind this proposed Hafner's gas station at the Alton Rotary? If not enough water then a 45-million dollar dam and water impoundment must be constructed by the Town of Alton so people can go kayaking there ...... ho-ho-ho! .....

The property that just sold is on the same side of the rotary as McDonald's and has no water frontage or buildings. It sits between Route 11 and New Durham Rd (the old Route 11). The site that FLL sited is on the other side of the rotary just east of Aubuchon's. This commercial building was the former home of Berry's Bait and is still an active listing.
