Been trying to get the video loaded, I guess this site doesn't take MP4s. I'll try later to reformat it.

This brought me back to the late sixties when in a Budweiser induced haze I skied behind our old Chris Craft a couple of days before Thanksgiving. Not out in the broads but in front of Diamond. Was the water cold......

I remember seeing Santa skiing on the river in Manchester several years on Christmas Day (or did I just have too much egg nog?),

It is nice to see that craziness still exists..... Back in the day, I remembering getting the dock in, then the boat, and skiing a week after ice out was declared... The trick always was trying to find someone who wanted to drive, and another to be the observer....
In this day and age with Dry suits or even a heavy wetsuit, I am surprised you don't see this more.... As long as the lake isn't iced in it is all fair game....

Late 60s, early 70s, member of both Winnisquam and Winnipesaukee ski clubs will outdo each other on who would be the last to ski before ice settled in!
Most of the time it is off Glendale docks, because the launch ramp is always available. Michelob and peppermint schnapps were the courage we need! We would set up a bonfire to warm up! Those were the daze............

Agreed, it is the getting out that is the killer.... I was asked one time if I felt the cold while I was skiing, I never did.... it was a cold plunge getting in, a little shiver getting the ski on, and absolute fun... the water felt warmer when I let go of the rope.... But getting in the boat, and going back to the dock sucked... good thing there was always a fire, to warm up by.....

These skier videos in cold weather reminded me of the barefooter thru the Channel behind a snowmobile. THAT was interesting!

You know, I don't mean to brag, but I am like the greatest 74-year old water-skier that ever water-skied since water-skiing was first invented!
So, what can I do now in late December with the 33-degree Lake Winnipesaukee water? I can do a one ski, slalom dock start sitting on the edge of a dock with 40' of slack in the line that whips me off that dock, and finish my run with a stand-up beach landing on a sandy beach so's I never even get wet! Not even a little bit wet! So's, how about that ...... ! ...... gimme some applause here, please! All set here ......... OK! ......... hit it! Rough water, calm water, medium water ....... it don't make no difference to me!
