One good sign can do a lot for a business, and this Weirs Beach sign has done a lot to identify and promote Weirs Beach. Installed on Saturday, July 21, 1956 by a group of local businessmen led by Sid Ames, this sign is looking good and doing its thing for almost 70 years.
To read more about it, ask Google "How old is the sign for Weirs Beach, NH?"

It mention that it’s a new sign. Does anybody have pictures of the old sign?

Hence, no apostrophe on the new sign but it really should have an apostrophe after the "s" in Weirs.

It didn't do too much.
Meredith overtook the Weirs quite easily as a tourist location without any neon sign. |

This website, however, says the origin comes from the word for Native American fishing traps used in that area: "Weir(s)." If that is accurate, the apostrophe should never have been used as the "s" indicates plurality, not ownership. https://cruisenh.com/blogs/news/the-...-winnipesaukee Sent from my SM-S931U using Tapatalk |
