Default Kudos to the Meredith PD

Saw them standing gaurd all day at the Hannafords in Meredith directing traffic. Nice! Somehow didn't notice the traffic being as bad this year. I think visitor numbers are down from the past few years. Although the weather wasn't as nice most of Saturday. Maybe today it will be different. Looks like a cooler week weather wise.
We went to craft fair and ate at Lagos. (Bought a few things at the show. Trying to help the local economy and all!) The Police were still at the Hanaffords at 6pm. Much appreciated. If paid for by Hannafords I might have to take some of my comments back, and possibly shop there.....

I also noticed it looked like they were going to do some changes to the painted road lines as well. Extending some of the turning lanes and repainting the others.
I also noticed that the traffic I was following coming down the hill past the Iriving station, was doing in the 40's until they saw the blue lights, and then everyone woooo'd up on the brakes.

....yeah...there's like three different close-call zones, all close together there....all the gasoline customers from Irving getting back onto Rt 25,,,,Dunkin Donuts drive-thru back onto Rt 25....two different entry-exits from Hannaford's back onto Rt 25.....and the worst one, Pleasant St waiting to get onto Rt 25....so that's about five close-call zones.

Some people like to take chances, cutting into moving traffic going from Pleasant St, left onto Rt 25 toward the big intersection,, and oncoming drivers must figure they have the right of way, and after wading thru the big intersection, they do not tend to slow down.

Some good practice for driving like Massachusetts........lol!

Not being facetious here but is it Meredith or Merideth? I've seen it spelled both ways in different posts, I was wondering if the locals perhaps spell it a different way?

...careful... trying to do the right thing will get you called "stuffy" and "politically correct"...

Hi,
it's Meredith.
The traffic patrol at Hannafords is paid for by Hannafords and Dunkins
but it is needed.
There should also be a cop at the lights on the weekends, which would make the traffic much smoother.

Default A rose by any other name...

Up north the town is Moultonborough, not moultonboro.

We locals like to call it Moultonberry!

Have fun on the Lake!

I agree, but the Postal Service always changes -ough to -oro on the seasonal change of address form. Of course, they deliver to -ough but they seem to prefer -oro.

I am not sure if Dunkin Donuts is paying, but I know ALL the businesses in the shopping center are paying for the traffic officer. Seems fair to me, businesses that were there prior to the new landlord and renovation get to share this expence

FINALLY!!!! Someone who doesn't know has the coutisy to ask! The mispelling has bothered me in the past (born and proudly raised in Meredith), but I didn't want to seem rude by correcting them.
Kudos to KonaChick!!!!!!
