Poll: How Fast Does Your Boat Go
OK,
Someone suggested this poll. To address those with multiple boats, lets say the fastest boat. |

May I Vote?
I need clarification too: My fastest boat is located 1600 miles away.

It looks like 100% of the power boats are capable of violating the nighttime speed limit. And 82% of the power boats are capable of violating the daytime speed limit.

And of course, this is all based on the self-selecting people who responded to the poll. I have seen several small boats (little Whalers and the like) will small outboards that couldn't top 15MPH on flat water. Your statement about 100% of power boats is simply trolling.

65 mph?
Looks like this will be a reasonable compromise to the day limit? Majority of the boaters taking this pole should be OK with that?

My boat hit 54.6 this weekend after an hour of cleaning the bottom
Still down about 4 mph after doing all this work and buying a new prop though At any rate, most of the time you'll find me cruising between 25 and 35, just a comfortable range for this boat. Anyone want to buy a cream puff? |

New prop
Normally I can hit 50 on a good day.
I change the prop from 25', 3 blade to a 24 pitch, 4 blade. Last weekend I open it up to check the speed. I am alone and I have a full tank of gas. I am spinning 4400 rpm. Same as the old wheel. Using the VDO speedomenter it was registering 55 mph. Fastest I have ever been on this boat. Looks like I decrease the slippage going to a 4 blade. I always check the gph of my boat by writing done the hours on the hour meter every time I gas up. I'm surprise last weekend I am using less gas. A liitle less than a gallon per hour than average. This is only one weekend.

540's One dyned 660 hp and the other 661hp. My deep X dimension and non stepped hull are holding it back and 2" Imco shorties are just not in the budget right now
Btw , nice meeting you at Jammin' on the James. Quite an enlightening conversation.

It has been my experience the 4 blades do not ALWAYS increase top speed but almost always increase cruising speed at the same RPM or you can decrease RPMs and still maintain the original speed. In either case it improves efficiency and MPG

Best run I have ever been on. I am sure Cal can attest to that. Anyone need details let me know! Just a few examples.. Can you imagine the $$$ that would flood into the lakes region if we could hold a run like this? Just a thought!

I guess that accounts for the slurred speach It was a great run but 86 miles on a little puddle like Winni would require a few laps around the lake.

Exactly, Winnipesaukee is not an ideal environment for those kinds of runs. They are tons of fun, but belong on big water.

Very true.. but I am sure we can figure out something.. Hell they used to do races there.. And as for the speech impediment... Totally not my fault... I was fed strawberries hollowed out with some type of rum inside with whip cream on top.... After that everything got a bit fuzzy.. But was actually coming around by dinner time.. LOL.... I still think it was ironic that out of 500 people I sit next to the only other guy on winni.com Crazy!!! next year we will have to plan to meet up at the captains meeting... I can also give you some inside scoops on where to stay for pre and after partys. Take care.
