Default Construction On Union Avenue

Lots of construction taking place on Union Avenue with the new Dunkin' Donuts and Dairy Queen expansions. I have also noticed excavation work being done at the lower end of the old Burger King parking lot this past week. I don’t know if it is on land of the Spinnaker Cove Yacht Club or BK - not sure just where the boundary line is between the two properties. The trucks have been accessing the site through the BK lot at any rate.

Is it perhaps the beginning of the proposed new yacht club or something Spinnaker Cove is doing? The last I knew the yacht club proposal had not been approved by DES or the local Planning Board. Is it still on the back burner or has it died on the vine? Just wonderin'

Construction is a good thing, especially when it's done good. Way-to-go good construction as opposed to not-so-good construction.

Talking about good construction, today I noticed one of those large orange Federal Stimilus Construction signs in Laconia on the railroad track right-of-way, between the Gale Library and the former U.S. Forest Service building. This is the first leg of the first section of he WOW Trail and it runs from the library to Messer St, just across from Lake Opeechee.

Click on the WOW Trail challenge which happens tomorrow, Saturday. For a fifty dollar contribution you can peddle your own bike all sixty seven miles around Lake Winnipesaukee and enjoy the support stops, barbeque and help a good cause. If you cannot handle 67miles, then check out the Paugus Bay challenge......just 12 miles of peddlng.....about one hour.....circling Paugus Bay on a bicycle..

Probably the most difficult bicycle mile out of all 67 Winnipesaukee bicycle miles is the peddle going up High School Hill between the Etcetera Shop and the high school in Meredith........one tough mile!
