Default Returning Home

This has been the worst winter in FL for over 20 year. Cold, windy and wet was the norm. Southwest Airlines had a good price for going to Manchester yesterday and I made a reservation.
I started to wonder when "snowbirds" go north. The major questions are how long you stay in each place and when you return to the lake.
My date is May 19. Spring in NH is not the best and FL has a great spring(I hope)

I've had a few friends who have moved away because of the winters here, but they came back because there was something about the Lakes Region that brought them back. They missed the area.

We have been governed by the kids' school calendar. The usual migration up to the lake is the first week of June. We return to Florida the third week of August in the midst of hurricane season.
Our oldest starting college this year, so he and his dad will head up mid May, ostensibly to do all the spring cleaning and do all the grunt work while I stay behind with the younger one as he finishes up the school year. I told my sweet husband that I better be able to see the house sparkle all the way from the state border if he gets to come up 3 weeks early to get it ready!
Two more years and I won't have to leave NH most spectacular weather for Florida's most dreadful weather. You don't know heat and humidity unless you've been in Florida during September!

Usually get to the Lake in mid-late May and leave first week in November.

I'm typically in NH from Jan 1 through Dec 31, each year.

Not there myself yet, but I've found from observing my parents and in-laws that it changes as they get older.

When they first started flyng south in their 60's, they left after Columbus Day (mid-Oct), and returned by Patriots Day (mid-April)

Each year it was later, and earlier. Now in their 80's, leaving early Oct and not returning until almost Memorial Day.

I try to settle in around January 1st of each year and head back out sometime around midnight on December 31. There are usually a few anxious moments while I am away from my home, but I get over them soon enough!

Love this place!

We live on North Hutchinson Island, Florida, right smack on the ocean and do love it, but, you're right, this has been the worst winter in Florida that anyone can remember. Now we're really looking forward to another wonderful summer at Lake Winni! We're arriving May 2nd and will rent the same cottage through late October or early November. We are sooooo fortunate to live in two gorgeous places.

I know what you mean. I had to cross the border and go into Mass last week for a few hours. I started to get the shakes.
