We had a backpack that we could put the boys into for long walks or hikes like that - I loved it!

We just bought one of those kid carrier backpacks (Deuter kid comfort II) so that I can take my 1 year old (24 lbs) on hikes when we're up at the lake. I love it. He loves it. We've done a couple 3-4 mile practice hikes and plan on doing bald knob and maybe a couple other places suggested in this thread.
