As far as best time to fish, in my opinion early morning (sunrise or earlier) would be best simply because of no boat traffic or other things driving fish from the shallows. I don't think you are going to catch a salmon or lake trout that close to shore in that shallow water this time of year but you may pick up a rainbow, bass, white perch, yellow perch, etc, etc. My advice is just have fun with it and see what happens! Crank baits, jerk baits, or Texas rigged plastics will catch LM Bass, SM Bass, Pickerel, and Crappies.

I caught some monster small mouth in Paugus using Hellgrammites. Fish about 100 yrds or so off the islands, in about 25-30 feet of water.
Just hook em through the neck and let them swim freely. These have worked when no lure would! |
