In 2003, The Old Man was probably "done-in" by a small earthquake—one that most Lakes Region folks missed because of the early hour:

An unusually strong earthquake was felt across the Northeast United States and parts of Canada early Saturday morning, rattling residents and buckling roads in the region of the epicenter. No injuries or deaths have been reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed the quake, setting the preliminary magnitude at 5.1 -- capable of causing considerable damage. It was centered 15 miles southwest of Plattsburgh, New York. According to the USGS, the quake happened at 6:50 a.m.

My mom and son didn't feel a thing in Nashua but others felt it much further south. She lives in a condo on the hill at the end of exit 8.
What got me was our 4 dogs didn't even bark or flinch before or during the quake.

Here's a coincidence - a 2.7 earthquake was reported at 9:57 pm south of Dallas last night.

There are over 1300 earthquakes per day. Yesterday 203 of them were over a 2.5 magnitude alone....Ours was just one of them.
