You can get the $30 upgrade fee refunded if you call and complain. It rubbed me the wrong way too, so I called before buying the new phones and said I wasn't going to upgrade jut to pay them $30 to sign a contract promising to pay them for two more years! They agreed to refund it once my new phone was activated, I went to best buy mobile and got my IPhone for $50 less than Verizon and am very happy!!
