I don't think a water alarm will help, if no one is there to hear it. My boat has a high water alarm, but its for when you are sleeping on board, or relaxing during the day. I don't think it would help if no-one was on board.

Thanks for the web cam link, if I remember correctly, the larger boats are more to the left of where the web cam can see. Or perhaps they have it out of there by now?

Hopefully I have the location right, that was they told me as his mom can see all the activity from her front yard.

My wife just texted me a picture and sure enough there is a boat about 3/4 under water....what a shame. (I can't get the picture to load here for some reason.

I walked by a sailboat in its slip and heard an alarm beeping.

Through some neighbors I found the owner (who was 800 miles away) via cell phone. He talked me through finding the hidden key and accessing the issue.

With his instruction I was able to get his bilge pump going again and it drained for a long time.

Yes, I felt pretty good about taking the initiative!

So was this a power boat or a sail boat? It sounds like a sail boat?

Any idea what went wrong? Sorry to ask, but I like to learn from lessons like this.

I assume this was not the particular boat at the Akwa marina?

No. This one was in Florida.

Does anyone have any news or info from the Akwa incident?

The last news I heard was that they raised the boat and it was last seen being towed towards Eagle Island, so perhaps (due to it's size) it was being towed towards a lift that could handle it, i.e.: Silver Sands or Mountainview YC.

Akwa's shore power was out of commission until this past weekend. The boats battery might have been run down by the pump.

After all this time, I'm surprised that no one knows the actual details as to what happened with this boat. Does anyone know for sure? Please let us know.
