Kudos to Don
Just want to thank Don for shutting down a thread that could have gotten ugly so quickly. And a gentle reminder to fellow forum members that as soon as you add a politician’s name to a thread, it becomes political, no matter who that politician is. Let’s keep it about the lake. Personally, I was frustrated that the waterspout didn’t pass within my view while having an outdoor lunch at the Lyon’s Den...but I’m sick that way.

Your smugness at the closing of a thread that merely displayed free expression of thought (regarding a candidate who is NOT of your choosing) is typical and reminiscent of liberals who want to squash all thought except their own.
Don did what he had to do to keep the website centric to “the lake” but your immediate approval of what he did is revealing...sad. |

Yeah, I thought it was fine and returned to post this, which is absolutely lake-related. I'm clearly not on Team Trump, but I support the right of the other forum members to be...if respectful and lake-related.

You can’t “have” an “issue “. You can debate an issue. You can argue an issue. An issue is e.g., abortion, gun control, etc. For hundreds of years what are now called “issues” by followers of PC language were called problems. But then when the entire country got put on the therapy couch beginning in the 60s, problems became “challenges”. Problems had to be solved and challenges only had to be met. Then even “challenges” was too harsh for the snowflakes so “issues” came into vogue among the people who wanted to sound like everyone else. Issues only had to be acknowledged, not fixed.
Makes me thing of an adage timely to this week: You never see a motorcycle in front of a psychiatrist’s office. Lol. Hopefully the same goes for boaters. Sorry for the playful screed. I guess I was “triggered” by my peeve. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

This liberal agrees with you that thoughts should not be squashed. But I hope that you will reflect on some of your earlier posts. When you say that vegans in restaurants should not be welcomed or assert that Donald Trump is the only thing saving us from Socialists, you are also chilling the free exchange of ideas by demonizing all your opponents with a single brush. |

Thanks Gilly. Does the fact that that sub paragraph of the definition is capitalized indicate that it’s a recent addition? I don’t know, it just stood out to me. Dictionaries will add definitions at a certain point when they decide that a certain number or percentage of people start using certain words to convey a new meaning.

If you are correct that I said something against vegans I wish you would point it out to me as I cannot recall ever having said such a thing... |

I agree with Ben Carson when he said people need to get over themselves and stop being offended by every thing.

Here's the vegan quote. Maybe I was too picky to allude to it. But when you say their food shouldn't even be on the menu, it's telling them they are not welcome. BTW, I agree most vegan food is lousy |

No apology necessary Gilly. I didn’t take your response as smug. It was a neutral reference to the dictionary and we have corresponded respectfully. I’m a language guy so certain things set me off. Lol. I was just venting to the forum.
