Thought I'd circle back with the outcome. We ended up grabbing a Blackstone 28" at Lowe's in Gilford...for $138 closeout.

It's awesome...but, after preparing to give away the old Weber, we decided to keep both.

The griddle is great, but it definitely requires more maintenance and is difficult/risky in the rain.

So we've got the best of both worlds!

My son in law did the same. Got a black stone and kept the grill. Toss in the smoker and pizza oven. The kid has little room on his deck

Something else to look into is the Masterbuilt gravity 800. Best of both worlds with a grill/smoker and a griddle.

Details, please. I see 22" and 30" at Lowe's online. 28" I think at Ace or Walmart. Prices are all over the place.
Did you get the table top, or is this on a stand with wheels? Propane or electric?

What's the problem in the rain that's different from any other grill? Just because you cook with the lid up?

When I was a short order cook, keeping the griddle clean was not a problem, but we had special tools. I used pumice, salt and a razor blade, but that was a much heavier piece of metal than the home models and took longer to reach the right temperature when starting out. Long long time ago. TIA.

This one: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Blackstone-...ill/5005548513

The lids are not meant to cook with down, but rather for storage. So, a decent rain will mess up what's on the griddle and increase the chances of rust. It's just simpler to use the grill.

Cleaning isn't difficult, but it's more involved than simply brushing the grills down.

I bought the 36" BlackStone 4 burner griddle with the grill grate attachment as well a few years back. I use it for when I'm cooking for large crowds (50+ people) which I used to do a couple times a year for charity events at the Dragway or my wife's school. At the Dragway it was nice, would get there early and set up and put the griddle on for the few people helping to run the event with pancakes and bacon, and then take the griddle off and did the hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch for everyone that was there.
I don't use it much now that we haven't had any of those events for a few years, but I lend it out to my neighbor who does Softball for the town and he does burgers for them a couple times a year.
Easy to transport because it folds right up, a little difficult to clean after, but it was worth it. I used to grab a few older grills from people and throw it in my trailer, now just fold it up, in the back of the SUV.
