Float plane mishap in Moultonborough

Anyone hear about the amfibious plane that circled over the beach in Suissevale, landed, bounced, lost control, headed toward the rafts, scattered swimmers, ran over the ropes and pulled up on the beach, hopped out and said, "Hi everybody". Yeah.... and then people started calling the cops, and what an event that was.....Seems he was visiting friends in my neighborhood and thought parking on the private beach was a good idea when it was packed with swimmers. I have a sneaking suspision that he won't doing that again anytime soon....

Wow, that must have been an eye opener. I live in Suissevale, but we weren't at the beach over the weekend... too crowded with kids/renters, etc. for us. So, did the guy get arrested or what?

I saw the plane dive behind the Suisseville trees, looking like a bush pilot, and was wondering how it would land with all the traffic we had on Sunday. If the pilot was arrested, they were let go because a while later we saw the plane take off again. A short time later, an ultralight buzzed down the lake just barely over boat traffic. Its been an entertaining summer.

I was on the Suissevale beach that day and our customary spot gave us a perfect view of the incident. He landed in a tight spot and ended up with a pontoon inside the swim area. After a lot of time, huffing and puffing by a few members, and a powwow between MP and Moultonborough PD, the pilot was not cited (but was likely embarassed). I think he picked a poor spot to land but I think the lake was so busy he had few choices.

I noticed the the plane landed and was on the beach again yesterday.

Yeah I really didn't think he would be back. My next door neighbors told me tonight that he came back and was citing law to them. Something about five feet above water line being allowed because it is lake property not private property? I don't get that or boats could nose up and park on your private beach.... Any who. Just keep looking up while swimming I guess! He may be headed your way......

I was also there and witnessed the whole thing, he was coming right at me! I understand it did seem dangerous as the time because to many, they're not used to seeing a plane land like that. My assumption is he could have picked a better place to land, but the fact is nobody did get hurt and that scene, I feel, got blown very far out of proportion. Nice plane!

Come say hi if you see us on the beach- our old red and white Chris Craft is usually beached there most weekends (and one of the kids is usually on or around it and can point us out), we are always at the volleyball end of the beach.

OK I should have mentioned my 2 "grown" children- one of them is a 6' 4" mountain and the other one had her picture taken by Hazelnut at the Naswa (and posted on this forum)!

These two are almost as much work as my own kids!

I've GOTTA make a road trip up to Suissevale this summer!!! I was thinking though that we should have a Nasua rendezvous sooner or later!!!

Can someone clarify this "law" to me? As I read it, it is claimed that a person can trespass on the first 5 feet of my shoreline because it is lake?

And even worse, in this case, land a plane potentially endangering people who are in the water, under the assumption they will get out of the way due to fear, and therefore no longer be "in the way"?

Something does not seem right....

Not sure, but I think that someone is trying to make the case that the lake is owned by the public up to the high water mark. I doubt the high water mark is 5 feet up the shoreline though...

I think a friend was staying at Suissevale but I am not sure.

I'm surprised the Moultonborough PD didn't get him for speeding - they run radar traps everywhere else in that town.

A few inch's of vertical drop in lake level could expose many near-horizontal feet of nice sandy beach to park my plane on for a picnic.
