Only been to the one at Patriot's Place ...... 3 times. It is not for those that want healthy low fat food, maybe that is why I like it so much, those juicy double cheeseburgers and a bag of crisp greasy fries are great. Once every few months may be enough.

I liked 5 Guys burgers. A little better than McD's or BK's. I'm not thrilled with the fries though. They are made from fresh cut potatoes and have too much water in them to crisp up as much as I prefer them. I took y left-over spicy fries home and baked them for lunch the next day. Much better.

My experience is limited to 1 visit at the Nashua H location so I may have hit them on Bad-Fry day.

Went by the new place today on the way to T-Bones, there were quite a few cars at McD's. Some like McD's better than others. I am one of the others. I have to admit, however, to at least five visits to a McD's since they came to New England in 1960.

........just such a part of people's past. My first job was at McDonalds, two years during high school. Ended up being crew chief, my regular meal there was a cheeseburger and a TAB. Back in the 70's it was a sort of special place to hang out. Central Mass, high school, after the football game we all walked over there. Things are different now, I guess, food like that has become the norm, instead of the treat.....back then, it was a break from Mom's cooking.

My real issue is with the packaging and seeming lack of recycling. The obscene amount of cardboard that gets tossed in the same bin with garbage cannot recylce well.

For about $0.00 & 9% NH meals tax (of zero) the no-charge large glass of ice water is good plus the price is good too......what's the caloric/fat content on that? Does it contain any two-stroke oil, engine exhaust fumes residue, or marina boat bottom cleaner since the public water supply is drawn from the lake right next to a very large & busy marina?

...fried clams are certainly some of the best tasting worst food you can eat. As least in my humble opinion.

I was with you about the Mayo on a burger when I moved to Texas years ago. They put mustard on burgers also down there. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised how great it is with mayo. I will not have it any other way now.

Wendy's burgers seem better only because they are cooked fresh, they are still burgers and still have as many calories as any other fast food burger. The choice of a salad instead of fries is fine, as long as you watch what dressing you use.

McDonald's in the Lakes Region is great for the vacationer who needs someway to please the tough kid on a rainy day and to give them the special treat while on vacation. The everyday trip to McD's is not so good, but I wish people would mind their own business. If I want to go to Mickey D's and get fries or burgers, that is my choice, I thought America was the land of the free, not the land of "eat only what I eat".

Salads are not often a good choice once you pile on the salad dressing that they give you - especially the Asian Salad at Wendy's. I don't know about calories, but if you do Weight Watchers, those salads are 14 points out of a usual 21 - 22 points per day. Not a good selection.

The best bet at Wendy's is the chili and the regular burgers aren't so terrible either. Baked potatoes are a good bet as well.

My hand's down favorite fast food choice, though, is, without a shadow of a doubt, the McDonald's fish sandwich- fried fish, sauce and cheese. A heart attack on a bun, but a guilty pleasure.

Couldn't agree more! During Lent, McDonald's always runs a special on the fish sandwiches -- two for $3.33 or something similar. I'm usually there a couple of times a week. Guilty pleasure, indeed! Nice to know McDonald's supports us Catholics!

Here's a filet-o-fish factoid. Just about all the McDonald's fish are Alaskan Pollock, caught in the Bering Sea off Alaska, and are all processed on the same factory fish processing boat.

I tried to google that and find a photo of the ship, thinking it would be highly appropriate for this website, but no luck with that.

How about that; a fish caught in the Alaskan ocean, and eaten right here in Laconia, and priced two/$3.33. Is this a great country or is this a great country!

This is just a guess-timate, but it's probably the case that the total of the NH McDonald's restaurants are number one on the list for collecting and paying the NH-9% meals and lodging tax to help fund the state budget.

The world's most famous fish sandwich begins as one of the ocean's ugliest creature. Filet-O-Fish, like many of the fish patties used by fast-food chains, is made predominantly from hoki, a gnarly, crazy-eyed fish found in the cold waters off the coast of New Zealand. In the past, McDonald's has purchased up to 15 million pounds of hoki a year, each flaky fillet destined for a coat of batter, a bath of oil, a squirt of tartar, and a final resting place in a warm, squishy bun. But it seems the world's appetite for this and other fried-fish sandwiches has proven too voracious, as New Zealand has been forced to cut the allowable catch over the years in order to keep the hoki population from collapsing. Don't expect McDonald's to scale down Filet-O-Fish output anytime soon, though; other whitefish like Alaskan pollock will likely fill in the gaps left by the hoki downturn. After all, once it's battered and fried, do you really think you'll know the difference?

Forget the calories and the fat. This turned my stomach enough to never go back again. Hey, it's a free country. Go for it.

It comes from a cow, yes, but before being stuffed in the bun of a Whopper or Big Mac, fast-food hamburger patties pass through the hands of a company called Beef Products. Beef Products specializes in taking slaughterhouse trimmings traditionally used only in pet food and cooking oil and turning them into patties. The challange is getting this by-product meat clean enough for human consumption, as both E. coli and salmonella like to concentrate themselves in the fatty deposits. So how does Beef Products go about "cleaning" the meat? With an approach similar to what you might use in your bathroom—by using ammonia.

See, the company has developed a process for killing beef-based pathogens by forcing the ground meat through pipes and exposing it to ammonia gas. And not only has the USDA approved the process, but they've also allowed those who sell the beef to keep it hidden from their customers. At Beef Products' behest, ammonia gas has been deemed a "processing agent" that need not be identified on nutrition labels. Nevermind that if ammonia gets on your skin, it can cause severe burning, and if it gets in your eyes, it can blind you. As an ingredient in one of the foods we consume most, our government doesn't even deem it important enough to inform eaters of its presence.

Add to the gross-out factor the fact that after moving through this lengthy industrial process, a single beef patty can consist of cobbled-together pieces from different cows all over the world—a practice that only increases the odds of E. coli contamination. So if you're set on the challange of eating fresh, single-source hamburger, pick out a nice hunk of sirloin from the meat case and have your butcher grind it up fresh. Hold the ammonia.

Forget the calories and the fat. This turned my stomach enough to never go back again. Hey, it's a free country. Go for it.

It comes from a cow, yes, but before being stuffed in the bun of a Whopper or Big Mac, fast-food hamburger patties pass through the hands of a company called Beef Products. Beef Products specializes in taking slaughterhouse trimmings traditionally used only in pet food and cooking oil and turning them into patties. The challange is getting this by-product meat clean enough for human consumption, as both E. coli and salmonella like to concentrate themselves in the fatty deposits. So how does Beef Products go about "cleaning" the meat? With an approach similar to what you might use in your bathroom—by using ammonia.

See, the company has developed a process for killing beef-based pathogens by forcing the ground meat through pipes and exposing it to ammonia gas. And not only has the USDA approved the process, but they've also allowed those who sell the beef to keep it hidden from their customers. At Beef Products' behest, ammonia gas has been deemed a "processing agent" that need not be identified on nutrition labels. Nevermind that if ammonia gets on your skin, it can cause severe burning, and if it gets in your eyes, it can blind you. As an ingredient in one of the foods we consume most, our government doesn't even deem it important enough to inform eaters of its presence.

Add to the gross-out factor the fact that after moving through this lengthy industrial process, a single beef patty can consist of cobbled-together pieces from different cows all over the world—a practice that only increases the odds of E. coli contamination. So if you're set on the challange of eating fresh, single-source hamburger, pick out a nice hunk of sirloin from the meat case and have your butcher grind it up fresh. Hold the ammonia.

McD's is a place to go for one reason, and one reason only...it tastes good. I'm sure that your story is accurate, but my guess would be that, based on the crowds that visit their stores on a daily basis, and the lack of dead bodies in the parking lot, their product, in moderation, is basically safe to eat. I'm sure that in it's rawest form, the meat and processes to clean it are far from appealing. I believe that to be common knowledge. But in the end, it tastes good, and I'm sure is safe to consume.

Maybe it's time to start doing veggie burgers. With a slice of cheese and some ketchup, they're not bad. The fast food world is just too dangerous! I just hope nobody's got some horror story about ketchup!

I got my first look at the new McD’s this weekend and even bumped into the Grimace – an honor to be sure. After reading all the anti Mickey D posts in this thread, I expected the food police to be at the door barring me entrance. However, throwing caution to the wind, I snuck in and ordered a McRib. Enjoyed it to no end. Tomorrow it is back to eating healthy.

I have same opinion of all the other "fast foods". You want to see a large greasy cheese burger, I saw a post of one on facebook! A visitor was discussing the restaurant in Atlanta famous for their burgers.

Am I reading your post correctly, Broadhopper? What’s the purpose of McD’s opening early if they don’t serve breakfast anymore? Does the drive thru serve only coffee and their usual daytime menu during those hours? I sure wouldn’t fancy a burger and fries at that time of the day.

Upon further investigation, I was told that they still serve breakfast until 10:30 AM. They switch to their lunch-dinner menu after that time. It seems the Egg McMuffin is alive and well, but you have to get there early to partake.

A mcdonald's that does not do breakfast......hmmmm.....hard-to-believe...something smells fishy here.....and it's not the Alaskan Pollock used in the fillet-0-fish sandwich.....say it ain't so.....a mcdonalds that don't do breakfast is like like a day without any sunshine....a day without your home town spending more money....a day without a political argument...or a day with 95-cent gasoline....does it really exist....a mcdonalds that don't do breakfast.....someone say it's just a joke and that it ain't so.

Hey there......today's December 10 LaDaSun has a page nine photo of the crew at Meredith McDonalds and this Saturday is their 25th anniversary. In case you have never stopped in there, the Meredith McDonald's is probably thy #1 best Mickey-D's on the planet, and the food there is better prepared and cooked than any other McD's.

That McDonald's sees a lot of local people and out-of-towners walk through its' doors and it goes a long way in making the Town of Meredith a stopping point and chow-down place as people travel through central New Hampshire.

What with today's high price for gasoline and everything else, it seems like their Dollar Menu is definitely building customer support. Way-to-go Meredith McDonalds, and way-to-go Dollar Menu.......ra-ra-ra.............sis-boom-baaaa!

As the saying goes, hindsight is always better than foresight, and all the FRM-losers who lost it all trying to make 15% annual return would have been a lot smarter to invest in the Golden Arches which has the power of the double cheeseburger going for it.

Say what.....walking through the wooded hillside, the walking distance from the Meredith McDonald's to the building that was home to FRM is like maybe 150-yards uphill. So hey......what a difference 150 yards must be for those who have killed themself (at least two suicides) with regard to their FRM losses plus the other survivors who are trying to maintain their lifestyles.

Who you gonna trust.......Scott whats-his-face at FRM or the power of the double cheeseburger and Mickey-D? ...
